CNPP has called for a forensic audit of Cross River finances under Duke, Imoke, and Ayade
Group, Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has called for an independent forensic audit of the finances of Cross River State government under the administration of Donald Duke, Liyle Imoke and Ben Ayade.
In a press statement issued by the State Chairman, Paddy Ally, said available records have shown that the state is in receipt of a humongous amount of money from Federal
allocation, apart from the internally generated revenue since the return of democracy, and yet, the state has nothing to show for it.
The state reads in part;
“The attention of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has been drawn to a political campaign video that has gone viral on the internet. In the said video, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was allegedly addressing some electorates and the former governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Mr. Donald Duke was heard lampooning the governor of Cross River State, Sen. Pro. Ben Ayade, calling his qualification fake degree.
“As a coalition of Independent Political Parties and pressure groups, with the cardinal aim of promoting and supporting good governance, and with the experiences gathered over the years, we do know that campaigns should be issue-based.

“Political parties are expected to sell their manifestos intelligently, professionally, and with every sense of decorum, and not to embark on character assassination.
“It is regretable that our people are impoverished. Many are living in abject poverty without any hope for food, such as garri, rice, bread, let alone kerosene, petrol, electricity, which are beyond the reach of our people.
“Our people are dying in drove because of failed healthcare, bad government policies of leaders. It is an aberration to continue to predispose the common man to political conflagration.
“The good people of Cross River State must be wiser now than before. We must beware of those politicians who will set us against ourselves; cause us to burn our shanties, kill our brothers and sisters in the name of politics, while they fly abroad in private jets and make mockery of us from their mansions.

“We should be careful with politicians who only call us when they need our votes and come back during the next election cycle with bogus and empty promises. It should
be noted that violence does not just happen. Violence is a product of our actions or inactions, such as inflammatory speeches, abusive language, etc. this must not
happen in Cross River State!
“Cross River State is greater than any individual or group of people Perhaps it has become necessary to call for an independent forensic audit of the finances of Cross River State from 1999 til date to ascertain who is a saint and
otherwise, since the accusations and counter-accusation.
“Available records have shown that our state is in receipt of a humongous amount of money from Federal allocation, apart from the internally generated revenue since the return to democracy, and we have nothing to show for it.
“We call on all parents to continue to counsel their children/ward not to fall for some politicians cheap antics. The traditional and religious leaders are please requested
to be more dutiful. Security agencies should know that a lot depends on them. INEC should be more focused and firm in the discharge of her primary responsibility.
“Remember, Cross River belongs to all of us. If we allow it to burn, posterity shall haunt all of us. Let us be wiser than the greedy politicians.
God bless you all.
