C/River Governor-elect, Otu Received Certificate of Return, Says He’ll Fulfil His Campaign Promises
The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in Cross River State has on Friday issued a certificate of return to the Governor-elect, Prince Bassey Otu, his Deputy, Rt Hon Peter Odey and members of the state House of Assembly.
News Week had earlier reported that, the INEC declared Prince Otu as the winner of the 18th March governorship election in Cross River State.
Otu, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) polled a total of 258,619 votes to defeat the the PDP candidate, Prof Sandy Onor, who polled 179,636 votes. While the Labour Party candidate, Ogar Osim, got 5957 votes.
The event which witnessed mass gatherings from party stakeholders and well-wishers, our Cross River State correspondent gathered that it took place at the INEC headquarters in Calabar.
Speaking after receiving his certificate of return, the governor-elect, Otu, promised to do his best to keep all the promises he made during his campaign.
He said:
“We thank you for finding us worthy to steer the affairs of the state in the next four years to come, I assure you that we will do our best to ensure that we fulfil all of our campaign promises”.
“I want to tell you that we’ve accepted the mandate you gave to us, however, I want to urge you to be watchful over us by encouraging us where we do right and drawing our attention where we go astray,” otu said.
