Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday morning, Ambassador Omini paid glowing tribute to the late Nigerian leader, describing Buhari as a “true patriot, a philanthropist, and a committed administrator.”
According to Omini, President Buhari’s leadership journey — from being a military head of state to returning decades later as a democratically elected president — reflects a lifetime dedicated to public service and nation-building.
“He lived and died for the country. From the military to civilian rule, Buhari devoted his energy to the Nigerian project. His legacy as a disciplined leader and reformer will remain with us for generations,” Omini said.

The envoy extended his sympathies to the Buhari family and urged Nigerians to remain united during this period of national grief. He called on the nation to uphold the values Buhari stood for — discipline, integrity, and service.
“At this difficult time, may God console the people and government of Nigeria. We pray for strength and peace for his immediate family and for all Nigerians who share in this loss,” he added.
