Terrorists Demand N1 Billion Ransom to release kidnaped victims
Terrorists suspected to be kidnappers have demanded a staggering ₦1 billion ransom for the release of a Chinese expatriate, Mr. Sam Xie Wie, and his Nigerian colleague, Mr. David Adenaiye, who were abducted during a deadly attack on a mining site in Kwara State.
The victims were taken on Wednesday during a brazen and violent assault at the site, which also claimed the lives of two officers of the Police Mobile Force assigned to protect them.

Witnesses say the attackers arrived in large numbers and quickly overwhelmed the security personnel, leading to the abduction.
According to intelligence reported by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the kidnappers contacted an associate of the victims, identified as Mr. Leo Liang, using the abducted men’s phones. It was during this call that the ₦1 billion ransom demand was issued.
The incident has heightened tensions in the region, which has seen a rise in violent crimes targeting foreign nationals and strategic business operations.

Security forces, working in concert with local vigilante groups, have launched an intensive search and rescue operation. Authorities have yet to confirm any progress in locating the victims or engaging with the kidnappers.
The Kwara State Government has condemned the attack and pledged full support to the ongoing security efforts. In a brief statement, officials urged residents to remain calm but vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
The incident underscores growing security challenges in Nigeria’s resource-rich regions, where criminal groups increasingly target expatriates and critical infrastructure for ransom.
