BREAKING: Tension in Osun as INEC Suspends Result Uploading, Portal Shuts Down

Tension and suspense have continued to mount in Osun State following a reported disruption in the uploading of polling unit results from Saturday’s governorship election to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

The development has attracted attention as the official collation of results continues across the state, with political parties, supporters and observers closely monitoring the process.

Earlier in the day, INEC commenced the uploading of results from the 3,763 polling units across the state to the IReV portal. The number of uploaded results steadily increased as officials processed the results.

However, at about 8:45pm, the uploading process reportedly stalled, raising concerns over the delay in the electronic publication of additional polling unit results.

The process later resumed, with the number of results available on the portal recording a significant increase.

As of the time of filing this report, 3,292 out of the expected 3,763 polling unit results had been uploaded to the IReV portal.

Meanwhile, checks by News Week Nigeria (NWN) showed that INEC’s official website was also inaccessible at the time of filing this report.

Although the cause of the outage could not immediately be ascertained, it was suspected to be a technical glitch.

The development comes at a critical stage of the Osun governorship election, with attention focused on the ongoing collation and the electronic publication of results.

INEC has yet to issue an official statement explaining the reported disruption to its website and the temporary halt in the uploading of results.
