In a report read by the Committee’s Chairman, Senator Neda Imasuen, it was stated that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension will commence on March 6, 2025.
The recommendation also includes the closure of her office, banning her from accessing the National Assembly premises during the suspension, and halting her salary along with that of her legislative aides.

As part of the process, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan may also be required to submit a written apology, which could be considered when reviewing her suspension.

The Senate will vote on the recommendation, and if approved, it will strip the senator of all legislative privileges for the suspension period. This decision follows serious allegations of sexual harassment leveled against her, leading to the ongoing investigation.
The outcome of this vote will determine the future of the senator’s role within the Senate, with the suspension serving as a significant disciplinary measure in response to the alleged violation.
