In a surprising turn of events, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the lawmaker representing Akoko Northeast and Northwest federal constituency of Ondo, has tendered his resignation from the 10th National Assembly. Tunji-Ojo’s resignation was confirmed through a letter addressed to the House of Representatives Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, late on Sunday night.

The letter cited his ministerial appointment as the reason for his resignation, indicating that he has been appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to serve as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Yet, in a recent minor cabinet reshuffle executed by President Bola Tinubu, Tunji-Ojo was redeployed to the position of interior minister. This reshuffle saw former Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola replace him as the minister in charge of the Marine and Blue Economy portfolio.
