President Tinubu Gives Wike New Appointment

 

 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, as a member of the newly constituted Inter-Ministerial Committee tasked with planning a state burial for former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday.

 

The announcement was made on Monday via a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The committee will be chaired by Senator George Akume, the SGF, and includes several key cabinet ministers and top security officials. It is charged with organising a befitting state burial for the late president in line with national honour and tradition.

 

Other members of the committee include the Ministers of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning; Defence; Information and National Orientation; Works; Interior; Housing and Urban Development; State Minister for Health and Social Welfare; and the Minister of Culture and Creative Economy.

 

Also listed are the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, the Inspector General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Chief of Defence Staff. The General Services Office (GSO) under the Office of the SGF will serve as the committee’s secretariat.

As part of the national mourning protocol, President Tinubu has directed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to open condolence registers at the entrances of their offices for members of the public to pay their respects.

 

“In honour of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, President Tinubu has also directed all MDAs to open condolence registers at the entrance of their respective offices for the public to pay their respects to the late elder statesman,” the statement read.

 

Additionally, a central condolence register will be available for the diplomatic corps and the general public at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
