PDP Trashes Congress Conducted By Wike’s Camp, Appoints Bassey Ewa as Chairman of Cross River Caretaker Committee, Dissolves Akwa Ibom Exco

 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced a major reorganisation in two South-South states, appointing former House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. Bassey Eko Ewa, as Chairman of a newly constituted Caretaker Committee for its Cross River chapter.

 

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) approved the move following the expiration of the tenure of the Cross River State Executive Committee, which was elected four years ago.

According to the PDP, the Caretaker Committee will oversee the affairs of the chapter for a period not exceeding three months, beginning Wednesday, October 1, 2025, pending the election of a new state executive.

The NWC urged all stakeholders, leaders, and party members in Cross River to remain united and work collectively for the PDP’s progress in the state.

Akwa Ibom Executive Dissolved

In a related development, the PDP has dissolved its Akwa Ibom State Executive Committee and inaugurated a Caretaker Committee to run the chapter’s affairs.

The dissolution was ratified at the NWC meeting held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in line with the party’s constitution.

The Akwa Ibom Caretaker Committee will serve for a maximum of three months, starting immediately, until a new executive is elected.
