PDP Suspends Two State Chairmen for Conniving With APC to Disrupt National Convention
The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended two of its members over alleged anti-party activities and attempts to undermine the party’s forthcoming national convention.
At a meeting held on Tuesday at the party’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) secretariat in Abuja, the forum, chaired by acting secretary Edward Percy Masha, announced the suspension of Austine Nwachukwu, chairman of Imo PDP, and Amah Abraham Nnana, chairman of Abia PDP.

According to a communiqué issued after the meeting and signed by Tony Aziegbemi, chairman of Edo PDP, and Masha, the duo were accused of colluding with “external forces” linked to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a bid to frustrate preparations for the PDP’s national convention scheduled for November 15–16.
The forum noted that both officials had reportedly sought a court injunction to halt the convention — an action it condemned as “a betrayal of trust and collective resolve.”
In line with the resolution, Aziegbemi was also named as the new chairman of the forum of PDP state chairmen.

Forum Condemns APC Tactics, Passes Vote of Confidence in PDP Leadership
The forum said its meeting deliberated on the state of the party nationwide, internal unity ahead of the 2027 elections, and strategies for strengthening opposition to the APC-led government.
It condemned what it described as the APC’s “undemocratic and desperate attempts” to pressure PDP governors, lawmakers, and key stakeholders into defecting, warning that such actions were “a dangerous move toward creating a one-party state.”

A vote of confidence was passed in the National Working Committee (NWC), the PDP Governors’ Forum, and all statutory organs of the party.
Call for Unity Ahead of 2027
Reaffirming its commitment to “rebuild and reposition the PDP as a credible alternative,” the forum urged party members to remain calm and steadfast.
“Despite ongoing political distractions, we call on all loyal members to remain united and resolute in defending the party’s values,” the communiqué stated.
