In a major shakeup, John Owan Enoh, Nigeria’s Minister of Sports, may have been relieved of his position as the Federal Government announces structural changes to the country’s ministries.
The long-anticipated cabinet reshuffle under President Bola Tinubu has led to the dissolution of both the Ministry of Niger Delta and the Ministry of Sports Development.

Bayo Onanuga, a presidential spokesman, confirmed the developments on Wednesday, signaling a shift in how the country will manage its sports affairs.

The most significant move affecting the sports sector is the reestablishment of the National Sports Commission, which will assume the responsibilities previously held by the Ministry of Sports Development.
While details of the leadership transition remain unclear, it is widely speculated that this restructuring marks the end of Owan Enoh’s tenure as Sports Minister, following a relatively brief period in the role.
Additionally, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, in another step aimed at streamlining governance and improving efficiency.
