NewsWeek Nigeria reports that the Organised Labour consists of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) has suspended the ongoing strike over disagreement on a new national minimum wage with the Federal Government for one week.

 

According to a reliable source, this will allow uninterrupted meetings with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage.

The new resolutions regarding the minimum wage after Labour leaders met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, and other government officials on Monday night.

Akume during the meeting, confirmed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to paying more than N60,000 as the minimum wage.

 

The SGF also assured that no worker would face repercussions for participating in the strike and that the tripartite committee would convene daily for the next week to finalize the new minimum wage.
