BREAKING: NDC, ADC, PRP, SDP, PDP, Other Opposition Parties Establish Coalition Organs, Agree to Forge Alliance Against Tinubu

Six major opposition political parties have agreed to begin structured negotiations aimed at building a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The agreement was reached on Monday in Abuja during the G100 First Summit of Party Leaders, where representatives of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) met to discuss the political future of the country.

The parties resolved to work together to address what they described as pressing national challenges, particularly insecurity and the rising cost of living.

As part of the agreement, the opposition parties established three joint coalition organs responsible for coordinating leadership, publicity and legal strategy.

They also constituted five specialised working groups and gave them four weeks to prepare key documents that will guide the proposed opposition alliance.

Among the documents to be developed are a framework for achieving opposition unity, a national reform programme and a roadmap for selecting a single presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 election.

The move signals a renewed effort by opposition parties to overcome their differences and present a stronger political alternative to the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election.

In a joint communique issued after the summit, the coalition also called on authorities in the United States to process and release official records concerning President Tinubu that are currently the subject of Freedom of Information Act proceedings in Washington.

The opposition parties said their collaboration would focus on addressing the country’s political, economic and security challenges while working towards a coordinated strategy for the 2027 elections.

The latest development comes amid ongoing efforts by opposition politicians and parties to form a broad coalition capable of challenging the ruling party in 2027.
