Mass defection hits APC in Sokoto As Thousands Join ADC coalition
All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto has suffered another setback as scores of its members in Gada Local Government Area dumped the party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The defectors, received on Sunday by Senator Abubakar Gada, a key figure in the ADC coalition movement, said they were leaving the APC over what they described as the government’s poor performance and failure to address pressing challenges facing Nigerians.

Addressing the crowd, Senator Gada said the movement to the ADC was a clear indication of citizens’ frustration with worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and the breakdown of livelihoods, particularly in Sokoto’s Eastern Senatorial District.
“Our communities are under siege from insecurity. Farming, which is the backbone of our people, has been crippled, leaving poverty, hunger, and joblessness in its wake,” Gada lamented.
He stressed that the ADC was rapidly gaining ground as more Nigerians seek a credible alternative to the APC-led government.

“People are embracing the ADC because they see hope in our coalition movement. The failures of the APC government are driving Nigerians towards a platform that is ready to rescue the nation,” he declared.
The defection adds to a series of political realignments in Sokoto, raising the stakes ahead of the next election cycle as opposition parties continue to strengthen their ranks.
