Kwankwaso Declares Support for Tinubu, Says North Remains Firm Behind President Despite Criticism
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Musa Kwankwaso, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the North remains solidly behind the president as he eyes re-election in 2027.
In a strongly worded statement released Tuesday, Kwankwaso dismissed recent criticisms of President Tinubu by Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former political adviser to Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Buba Galadima, a well-known opposition figure.

He accused both men of lacking relevance and credibility, labeling them as “frustrated politicians” who have failed to contribute meaningfully to the North.
“They lack the moral courage to talk about Tinubu’s administration,” Kwankwaso said. “They have nothing to offer and their time in government produced no tangible benefit for the region they now claim to defend.”

Kwankwaso, who currently serves as the Executive Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, went on to criticize Baba-Ahmed for allegedly failing the North during his tenure in public office.

He accused Galadima of being a “parasite” who, despite years in politics, has no lasting achievements and consistently clings to powerful figures without adding value.
“All his years with General Buhari brought nothing. Buhari only won elections after Galadima left him,” Kwankwaso remarked, cautioning former Kano governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to be wary of associating with Galadima.
Highlighting his own contributions, Kwankwaso pointed to his role in the maritime sector and contrasted it with what he called Galadima’s inaction during crucial moments for northern development.

He said Galadima failed to push for vital infrastructure like river dredging, which could have boosted the regional economy.
Kwankwaso praised President Tinubu for what he described as “visible progress” in the North, citing infrastructural developments such as the Kano-Abuja expressway and the road network connecting Badagry to Kebbi.
He also noted improvements in the affordability of food and essential goods, attributing the progress to government policies such as duty-free importation for major business players like BUA Group.

“Food prices are dropping, and Nigerians are beginning to feel the impact of this administration’s policies,” he said. “But have you heard Baba-Ahmed or Galadima acknowledge this? They’re just blind critics.”
He further lauded the government’s drive to expand the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) across the North, with CNG stations already being developed in Borno, Kaduna, and Kwara States. Kano, he said, would soon join the list.
Kwankwaso asserted that President Tinubu’s growing support base in the North remains unshaken despite political opposition and criticism.
“Whether they like it or not, Bola Tinubu will win a second term with a landslide in the North,” he declared. “Nigerians recognize and appreciate the transformative agenda of this administration, and that will reflect at the ballot box in 2027.”
