Some groups may pick up the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination form for former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Sources indicated that former President Goodluck Jonathan might pick up the PDP presidential nomination form on Monday.
“Goodluck Jonathan will pick up PDP nomination form on Monday,” one of the sources said.

However, a close associate dismissed the speculation, stressing that although several groups are pushing for his candidacy, it remains uncertain whether he will make any immediate move.
“What’s happening is that various groups are pushing for him, but it’s unclear whether anything will happen tomorrow or not,” a source in Jonathan’s camp said.
The latest development comes days after the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the PDP confirmed that Jonathan remains a registered member of the party and recently participated in its digital membership registration exercise.

The faction had also dismissed as fake several campaign posters circulating on social media which linked Jonathan to different political parties ahead of the 2027 general election.
Jonathan’s anticipated move is also unfolding alongside an ongoing legal battle seeking to stop him from contesting the next presidential election.
The former president had approached the Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge a suit filed against his eligibility to contest in 2027. Through his lawyer, Chris Uche, Jonathan urged the court to dismiss the case, describing it as incompetent and legally defective.

The matter came up before Justice Peter Lifu on Friday, where Jonathan’s legal team informed the court that they had already filed a conditional appearance, notice of preliminary objection, counter affidavit and written address on May 5, 2026.
According to Uche, Jonathan’s team only became aware of the suit through media reports, prompting an urgent legal response because of the sensitive nature of the issue surrounding his eligibility to seek office again.
The senior advocate argued that the matter had already been settled in previous judicial decisions up to the Court of Appeal and therefore should not be reopened.
Counsel to the plaintiff, Ndubuisi Ukpai, however, told the court that he had just been served with Jonathan’s legal processes and would need time to study and respond to them.
Following arguments from both parties, Justice Lifu adjourned the case until May 11 for hearing of both Jonathan’s objection and the substantive suit.
The court also directed that hearing notices be served on the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, listed as second and third defendants in the matter.
In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2102/2025, Abuja-based lawyer Johnmary Jideobi is asking the court to issue a perpetual injunction restraining Jonathan from presenting himself to any political party for the purpose of contesting the 2027 presidential election.
The plaintiff also urged the court to prevent INEC from accepting or publishing Jonathan’s name as a duly nominated presidential candidate.
The legal proceedings have further fueled nationwide speculation that the former president may be preparing for a dramatic political comeback.
Earlier reports had suggested that Jonathan hinted at a possible return to presidential politics while addressing a group of young Nigerians who appealed to him to contest the 2027 election.
“He has already hinted at joining the race and it may happen as early as tomorrow,” a source familiar with the development reportedly said, adding that Jonathan could formally declare his intention to run at any moment.
