Jonathan Has Not Pulled Out of 2027 Presidential Race – Cousin, Azibaola
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied reports suggesting that he has abandoned any ambition to contest the 2027 presidential election.
The clarification followed a publication which was previously made by this online newspaper which claimed Jonathan had rejected mounting pressure to run, insisting he would not be “used against Southern unity.”

Reacting to the report on Friday, Jonathan’s cousin and media aide, Azibaola Robert, dismissed the story as false.
In a statement on his verified Facebook page, Robert described the publication as “fake” and urged Nigerians to disregard it.
He further stressed that the so-called “aide of Jonathan” quoted in the report was fictitious.

“The former president has made it clear that he would not yield to calls not to run, since those making such admonitions had selfish motives,” Robert said, noting that Jonathan has not ruled himself out of the 2027 presidential race.
Although Jonathan is yet to make a formal declaration, political observers suggest he has been holding quiet consultations across the country as part of a broader plan to stage a political comeback.
Jonathan, who lost his re-election bid in 2015 to then-opposition candidate Muhammadu Buhari, has since remained active in national discourse and international peace efforts.
