A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to meet with former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Garba, in a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, described the reports as “fake news,” stressing that no such meeting has been scheduled or planned.

“There will be no meeting between Tinubu and Trump. Fake news,” Garba wrote.

The APC stalwart also urged Nigerians to support the United States over its recent position on the alleged genocide and growing insecurity in Nigeria, noting that the U.S. government’s focus is on combating both armed and economic terrorism within the country.

According to him, Washington is particularly concerned about the activities of economic saboteurs whose actions, he said, have more severe global repercussions than those of armed insurgents.

“The U.S. is approaching the genocide issue against two identified culprits — the armed terrorists who carry out killings and destruction across the country, and the politico-economic terrorists who divert public funds meant for counterterrorism and social programs,” Garba explained.

He added that the U.S. has been monitoring illicit financial transactions linked to Nigeria, including funds moved to offshore accounts and laundered through cryptocurrency wallets.

“They know everything that is happening in Nigeria. All the monies being moved to the Caribbean and washed into crypto wallets are being tracked,” he stated.

Garba maintained that law-abiding Nigerians have nothing to fear from any international action targeting these groups, urging citizens to support global efforts to rid the nation of both forms of terrorism.

“If you are not part of the two terrorist groups of legitimate targets, then you should have nothing to worry about,” he wrote. “In fact, you should actively encourage any action that will accelerate the cleansing of both the gunmen and the economic terrorists that have dominated our country for the past 16 years.”

His clarification comes amid growing online speculation and misinformation surrounding Nigeria’s security challenges and its diplomatic relations with the United States.
