According to a statement published on INEC’s official website and signed by the Commission’s Secretary, A.C. Ogakwu, the newly registered parties are the Independent Democrats (ID) and the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM).
The registration, INEC stated, was carried out in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended). The commission has also approved the Constitution, Manifesto, Logos/Flags, and the list of National Executive Officers for both parties.
INEC had previously assured political associations seeking registration that their applications would be reviewed and finalized ahead of the next election cycle.
