BREAKING: Governor Alex Otti Demands Immediate Arrest of Sacked Labour Party Chairman Julius Abure
Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has called for the immediate arrest of the embattled former National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, over allegations of impersonation following reports of Otti’s purported suspension from the party.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti dismissed the announcement of his suspension as “a joke taken too far” and “an affront on democracy.”

The governor urged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to act swiftly and apprehend Abure, accusing him of parading himself unlawfully as the party’s national chairman.
“For the records, the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, has rightly and unambiguously stated that Julius Abure is no longer the National Chairman of Labour Party,” Otti asserted, referencing a ruling that invalidated Abure’s leadership.
Otti also highlighted that a caretaker committee led by Senator Nenadi Usman has taken over the leadership of the LP, further stripping Abure of any authority to act on behalf of the party.

The governor urged Nigerians and party faithful to disregard the announcement of his suspension, describing it as a retaliatory move by Abure, who, according to Otti’s media aide, had been summoned to face allegations of gross misconduct, including financial misappropriation and anti-party activities.
“Just a few hours after being summoned by a committee set up by the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee, Abure tried to play a fast one by announcing the suspension of Governor Otti and other respected members of the party,” Ekeoma said.
Otti’s camp also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enforce the Supreme Court’s judgment to maintain the rule of law and protect the nation’s democratic institutions.
