El-Rufai Blasts Ribadu, Says Tinubu’s NSA suffering from Memory Loss
A heated exchange between former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, and National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has further intensified after El-Rufai accused Ribadu of suffering from “serious amnesia” regarding past statements about President Bola Tinubu.
The controversy began when Ribadu demanded a public apology and retraction from Hajia Naja’atu Muhammad, a former Commissioner at the Police Service Commission (PSC).

Ribadu’s demand followed a TikTok video in which Muhammad claimed that during his time as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ribadu had accused President Tinubu and others of corruption.
In a letter signed by his lawyer, Dr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), Ribadu denied ever making such accusations and said the statements attributed to him in the video were false and damaging.

“The damage that has been done as a result of the TikTok video is unquantifiable,” the letter stated, insisting that Muhammad either retract her comments or face legal action.
Muhammad, however, stood her ground, refusing to apologize. She maintained that her claims were based on factual records. “The records are there,” she said, adding that she had no reason to back down.
Weighing in on the matter, El-Rufai strongly defended Muhammad, asserting that Ribadu’s denial contradicted documented history. “Nuhu must have serious amnesia,” El-Rufai remarked. He went on to reference Senate records and Federal Executive Council (FEC) conclusions from 2006 as evidence that Ribadu had indeed made the statements in question.

“The record of proceedings in the Senate will confirm that Nuhu made those statements sometime in 2006,” El-Rufai said. “The subsequent Daily Trust report of February 2007 reconfirms the essence of these statements.”
According to El-Rufai, the conclusions of a 2006 Special FEC meeting, where Ribadu’s EFCC made similar allegations, would further prove the validity of Muhammad’s claims. He urged the Cabinet Secretariat to release those records to remove all doubt.
“This is for the record and to remind the morally flexible that at some point in our national life, silence is no longer golden,” El-Rufai added, in a clear jab at Ribadu’s changing stance.
