The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been formally adopted as the political platform for the emerging opposition coalition seeking to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

As part of efforts to restructure and reposition the party for the national assignment ahead, the coalition has appointed former Senate President, Senator David Mark, as the Interim National Chairman of the ADC.

A statement released by the coalition described the appointments as a “strategic move to restore credibility, discipline, and national appeal to the new political platform.” It further noted that the experience of Senator Mark and Aregbesola would help steer the ADC through its transition into a competitive national party.

“The appointment of these two respected leaders is part of a broader consensus-building effort. This is a new beginning, and Nigerians will see a party that puts people first,” the statement read.

Senator David Mark, a seasoned lawmaker and two-term Senate President, is expected to use his political experience and national reach to lead the party’s realignment efforts, while Aregbesola, a prominent progressive and technocrat, is tasked with rebranding the party’s structure and mobilization strategy.
