Coalition to Endorse Peter Obi as Presidential Candidate Ahead of 2027 Polls
As preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, emerging reports indicate that a coalition of opposition forces under the yet-to-be-registered political party, Action Democratic Alliance (ADA), is set to endorse former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, as its presidential candidate.
This development was made public by Morris Monye, Interim Director of Mobilization for the Obidient Movement, a key support base for Obi.

In a post released on Sunday morning, Monye hinted at an imminent political shake-up, noting that a formal announcement on the coalition is expected as early as next week.
“The coalition will be announced soon,” Monye disclosed. “And yes, Peter Obi is the frontrunner.”

While the full list of political players involved in the coalition remains under wraps, Monye was quick to clarify that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a recurring presidential contender, is just one of several actors involved.
“Atiku alone is not the coalition. There are many pieces on the chessboard. Atiku is one of them,” he wrote.
The statement has stirred speculation about the shape and strength of the emerging alliance, which political analysts say could pose a significant challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general elections.

Peter Obi, who ran for president in 2023 under the Labour Party and garnered massive youth support nationwide, has remained a central figure in Nigeria’s opposition politics. His likely candidacy under a new coalition could reposition the opposition for greater impact in 2027.
While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to officially register the Action Democratic Alliance (ADA), sources say consultations and mobilizations are already in full gear.
