APC prepared to welcome Wike — President Tinubu declares

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is prepared to welcome the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, into its ranks whenever he decides to join the ruling party.

Tinubu made the statement on Wednesday in Abuja during the commissioning of Arterial Road N16—from Shehu Shagari Way (Ring Road One) to Wole Soyinka Road (Arterial Road N20)—as well as other completed roads within the Katampe District of the FCT.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a prominent figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has long been the subject of speculation regarding his political allegiance, particularly since taking up a ministerial role under the Tinubu administration.

Although Wike has not formally declared a switch from the PDP to the APC, President Tinubu left no doubt about the ruling party’s willingness to receive him.

“Wike is not a member of our party yet, but we will welcome him anytime he chooses to join us,” Tinubu said. “With him, APC will continue to be in a joyous mood, and our rivals will keep writhing in pain.”

Responding to Tinubu’s remarks, Wike praised the president’s leadership and performance, stating that his achievements had disarmed opposition efforts.
