The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally confirmed Vice President Kashim Shettima as the running mate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.
The announcement was made on Friday during a meeting of the party’s leadership in Abuja, attended by members of the National Working Committee (NWC), led by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
Also present at the stakeholders’ meeting were members of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), led by its Chairman and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
During the event, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, officially presented President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as the APC’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 general election.
Masari also presented the nomination forms of the two candidates to the party leadership during a formal ceremony, where they were received by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Yilwatda.
Although Shettima’s name was not specifically mentioned during the presentation ceremony, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, later confirmed that the Vice President remains President Tinubu’s running mate.
Responding to questions from journalists after the event, Morka said, “The presidential candidate of the party is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and our Vice Presidential candidate is Senator Kashim Shettima.”
The confirmation puts to rest recent speculation over the identity of President Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 presidential election, reaffirming the party’s decision to retain the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
