APC Denies Rift with El-Rufai, Says Former Governor Still Member
The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked claims that it has parted ways with former governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, insisting he remains a bona fide member of the party despite recent political developments.
Speaking to journalists in Kaduna on Thursday, APC chieftain and former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, said the party still consults El-Rufai on critical issues and receives his counsel without charge.

Jamoh noted that, contrary to reports of his defection, the relationship between the APC in Kaduna and the former governor remains intact.
“We are yet to reach the point where we will say farewell to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. Forget about the politics. When we need his advice, we consult him, and he offers his contributions free of charge,” Jamoh stated.
He likened the party’s ties to the former governor to that of a parent and child, saying, “You cannot disown your child of eight years. He was governor for eight years under the APC. Even when he was in the PDP and later the CPC, which merged into the APC, he contributed to the building of this party.”

El-Rufai had, a few months ago, reportedly left the APC over what he described as a lack of internal democracy under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. He was said to have moved briefly to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) before aligning with an opposition coalition that adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform.
