BREAKING: APC Campaign Turns Bloody in Osun as 12-Year-Old Boy Shot, Members Injured

A 12-year-old boy was reportedly shot during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in Ilesa, Osun State, on Saturday, triggering protests and demands for an investigation into the incident.

The boy was said to have been inside his mother’s shop when gunshots were fired during the campaign.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to SaharaReporters, the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Wale Akerele, was allegedly at the scene alongside operatives of the Osun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, when the shooting occurred.

The eyewitness further alleged that the lawmaker and some Amotekun operatives opened fire during the incident, resulting in injuries to several APC members.

The 12-year-old boy was reportedly caught in the incident while sitting inside his mother’s shop.

“Scores of APC members also sustained injuries,” the eyewitness alleged.

The exact circumstances that led to the shooting remain unclear, and the claims could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.

The incident has reportedly sparked protests in parts of Ilesa, with residents calling for an investigation, particularly into the alleged shooting of the minor.

A photograph obtained by SaharaReporters showed the boy lying on what appeared to be a hospital bed, although his medical condition could not be independently confirmed.

The number of people injured in the incident was also unclear as of press time.

Attempts to obtain comments from the Osun State Police Command, Amotekun Corps and the lawmaker were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.

The incident comes amid heightened political activities in Osun State ahead of the governorship election, with campaign-related tensions raising concerns over the safety of residents and political supporters.
