Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has dismissed rumors suggesting his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

These speculations arose following his close relationship with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, leading to claims that Eno may be considering a switch to the APC.
During a media briefing in Uyo, held as part of the celebrations marking Akwa Ibom State’s 37th anniversary, Governor Eno categorically denied any intentions of leaving the PDP.

He urged the public to differentiate between his governance role and political affiliations, stating that his cooperation with Akpabio was rooted in the development of Akwa Ibom, not party politics.
“The first thing we get from building this relationship is the peace we are all enjoying. Maybe that’s why some people feel that I am neither here nor there,” Eno said, addressing the speculation.
He emphasized that his priority remains the advancement of the state, leveraging Akpabio’s national influence as Senate President for the benefit of the people.

Eno also took the opportunity to reaffirm his loyalty to the PDP, stating, “I am a PDP person, I am working for PDP, and as a state, we will continue to support the party.”
He noted the importance of distinguishing between political party loyalty and governance, underscoring his commitment to his party while remaining focused on delivering progress for Akwa Ibom.
Governor Eno expressed confidence in his party’s prospects, highlighting his administration’s developmental achievements across all local governments. “There is no local government that we are not doing something in this state, and there is no comparison,” he asserted.

Eno concluded by encouraging voters to evaluate the accomplishments of his administration, urging them to make informed decisions in the upcoming elections. “I want voters to be the ones to decide; compare what is done to what you are seeing and look at what is left,” he said.
