The news was made public by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, following the state’s weekly Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Otti.
According to Kanu, this decision fulfills the governor’s earlier promise to enhance the livelihood of Abia State workers. He confirmed that the new wage structure would apply across all categories of workers in the state’s public sector.

“This is in fulfillment of his (Governor Otti’s) promise,” Kanu said during the press briefing. “The implementation will cut across all categories of workers.”
In addition to the minimum wage announcement, Kanu revealed that the government has embarked on initiatives to strengthen the justice system in the state. One key project is the construction of 17 new court halls, one in each local government area, aimed at ensuring the efficient administration of justice across Abia State.
Furthermore, the state government is also focusing on healthcare. The Ministry of Health is set to organize a free medical outreach program next week in Ugwunnagbo, part of ongoing efforts to improve access to healthcare for the people of Abia State.
