Former U.S. President Donald Trump revealed on Wednesday that he has been warned by U.S. intelligence of a “serious and real” assassination threat from Iran.
Trump, who is currently campaigning for the 2024 presidential election, expressed his concern over the alleged threat and urged the U.S. to take swift action if such attempts materialize.

“Big threats on my life by Iran,” Trump stated on his platform, Truth Social. He mentioned that previous moves had already been made by Iran but were unsuccessful. “The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting. I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before,” Trump wrote on his verified X handle.
Trump expressed his gratitude to Congress for unanimously approving additional funding for the Secret Service, praising the bipartisan unity shown in support of his security. “Nice to see Republicans and Democrats get together on something,” he noted. The increased security comes amid rising concerns about the former president’s safety.

Earlier, Trump’s campaign confirmed that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence had briefed him on specific threats from Iran, aimed at destabilizing the United States by targeting Trump. In a fiery response, Trump called for decisive action, saying that any attack on him should be met with overwhelming military retaliation.
“If they do ‘assassinate President Trump,’ I hope that America obliterates Iran, wipes it off the face of the Earth,” Trump wrote. He warned that failure to respond with force would make American leaders appear weak, calling them “gutless cowards” if they did not take action.
This is not the first time Trump has faced assassination threats. During his current campaign, he has reportedly encountered two previous attempts. The former president’s remarks are likely to heighten tensions between the U.S. and Iran, further complicating diplomatic relations in the region.
