APC Sets Up C’mtee To Investigate Anti-Party Activities, Begs Ayade To Delay Payment of Appointees Salary
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has called on the governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade to delay the payment of salaries to appointees both at the state and Local Government level for two weeks till it’s able to fetch out members who were involved in anti-party activities during the recently concluded elections.
In a letter dated 3rd April and signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Erasmus Ekpang and obtained by NEWS WEEK-NG, the party has constituted a committee to receive petitions and reports from members who have evidence of other members of the party who engaged in anti-party activities in the just concluded elections.
According to the statement, the Executive Committee of the party, “has approved the constitution of a Special Committee to receive complaints of all anti-party activities (including but not limited to working in cohort with opposition Parties and their Candidates except Yala 1 State Constituency House of Assembly alliance with Labour Party which was consequent upon the nullification of the duly elected Candidate of the Party,) ceaseless litigations by members of the Party which were not withdrawn, collusion with security agencies against the Party and her Candidates, etc.”

The statement however warned against witch hunting while requesting that only case with evidence should be brought before the committee as anybody reported to the committee has the right of fair hearing.
It is believed that this is one of the party’s strategies to punish some of its members responsible for its poor performance in some locations across the state, especially in the northern senatorial district during the p
Presidential and National Assembly elections, even in the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections where the party lost all the three National Assembly seats and the five seats in the north except in Yala 1 state constituency where they had an alliance with the labour party candidate.
The statement from the party reads in full:
