APC Don’t Know What Is Coming” — Kwankwaso Warns Amid Coalition Talks to Unseat Tinubu

Former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has issued a stern warning to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), hinting at major political shifts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a Monday interview reported by Punch, Kwankwaso suggested that despite the APC’s confident public appearances, serious internal fractures threaten to derail the party’s cohesion and future.

The APC may still be smiling, but what’s brewing behind their doors could change Nigeria,” he said.

Kwankwaso’s comments come amid growing talks of a political coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambitions. He hinted that the seeming calm within the ruling party masks a deeper unrest driven by unfulfilled promises, internal grievances, and power struggles.

The atmosphere is deceptive,” he warned. “Nigerians should not be misled by handshakes and smiles on camera. Many within the APC are unhappy, and it won’t be long before those frustrations boil over.”

Though he stopped short of naming specific individuals, Kwankwaso’s remarks have added fuel to speculations that several aggrieved APC members may soon defect or align with opposition forces in what could become a formidable challenge to Tinubu’s reelection bid.

Sources within political circles have confirmed that Kwankwaso is playing a key role in behind-the-scenes negotiations aimed at uniting elements from the NNPP, Labour Party, and disenchanted figures within the APC and PDP into a “rescue coalition.”

Power may return to the people sooner than expected,” Kwankwaso added, signaling a renewed push for grassroots mobilization and electoral reforms in the lead-up to 2027.
