Amb. David Atim Visits Hospitalised UNICROSS Students, Calls for Improved Road Safety

On May 6, 2026, Amb. David Ayoka Atim, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ATMPress Nigeria Limited, paid a solidarity visit to hospitals where students of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) are currently receiving treatment following a serious motor accident.

 

The accident, which occurred on May 1, 2026, involved students who were returning from a friendly football match against the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State. The incident left several of them injured and in need of urgent medical attention.

 

During his visit, Amb. Atim moved across different hospitals to meet with the affected students, where he offered words of encouragement, prayed with them, and presented essential support items to assist in their recovery process. He described the visit as part of a broader humanitarian effort aimed at standing with the victims during a difficult period.

He also used the opportunity to stress the need for improved road safety measures across the country, calling on both the Cross River State Government and the Federal Government to take urgent action to upgrade road infrastructure and prevent similar tragedies in the future. According to him, the value of human life must remain a top priority in policy and infrastructure planning.

 

Amb. Atim was accompanied by a delegation of student leaders and youth representatives, including Nurse Olayi Emmanuel, State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Cross River State; Amb. (Comr.) David Nakanda Edet, Chapter Public Relations Officer of NYCN Akpabuyo Chapter; Comr. Hon. Sir Robinson Ekpo Bassey, Director of Social for Calabar South Students Worldwide; Comr. Ephraim Ededem Effiom, National Health Fellow for Calabar South; Hon. Tete Ephraim, former National Youth Parliament member from Atimbo East, Akpabuyo; Comr. Deborah Ekpo, PRO of NYCN Odukpani Chapter; and Princess Adaez, PRO of ATMPress Nigeria Limited.

 

The visit was widely seen as a gesture of solidarity and support for the injured students, as recovery efforts continue across the various medical facilities where they are being treated.
