Akwa Ibom, Delta Governors Regret Defecting to APC — Report
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Ulasi, has alleged that the governors of Akwa Ibom and Delta States, Pastor Umo Eno and Sheriff Oborevwori, are regretting their recent decision to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Ulasi claimed to have insider knowledge of the governors’ predicament, insisting that their defection has left them politically stranded.

According to him, while governors still under the PDP have continued to demonstrate effective leadership and deliver good governance, those who defected are now disillusioned.
“We have ten PDP governors, and if you go to their states where they are governing, excellent work is being done there. Go to Bauchi, for instance. Go to Enugu state—the governor is about the best-performing governor in this country,” Ulasi said.
He expressed disappointment over the actions of the two governors, describing their move as unfortunate and ill-advised.
“You don’t know what informs people when they move from this party to that party, like it happened in Akwa Ibom and Delta. It’s unfortunate. I’ve been talking with the defected governors, and what they are seeing where they have moved to in the APC is unfortunate. They feel engaged in a spectacle. They can’t go forward or backward,” Ulasi revealed.
The PDP stalwart suggested that the defections were not borne out of conviction but rather pressure from external forces.

“It is because there have been a lot of pressures on them before they moved,” he said.
Ulasi, however, acknowledged the political dexterity of President Bola Tinubu, noting that the APC under his leadership has maintained a formidable grip on power. He described Tinubu as a “strategic politician” whose tactical skills should not be underestimated.
Despite this, Ulasi maintained that the PDP remains the party with the best-performing governors in the country, stressing that the opposition must be strategic and coordinated if it intends to wrest power from the APC.
