Access Holdings has approved the appointment of Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, News Week Nigeria reports. 

 

In a proactive measure to ensure seamless leadership continuity, Access Holdings Plc has named Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer.

This decision comes in the wake of the unexpected demise of the former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Herbert Wigwe.

 

The announcement, disclosed by the Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc on February 12, 2024, comes merely days after the passing of Dr. Wigwe, underscoring the urgency and importance of maintaining stability within the organization.

 

Ms. Agbede, a seasoned professional with close to three decades of experience in banking and business consultancy services, assumes the pivotal role subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Her appointment signifies a pivotal moment in Access Holdings Plc’s journey as it navigates the complexities of a sudden leadership transition.

Having commenced her illustrious career in 1992 at Guaranty Trust Bank, Ms. Agbede has consistently demonstrated her prowess, ascending through various managerial positions before assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer at JKG Limited in 2003.

 

 

Her tenure at Access Bank Plc, which commenced in 2003, saw her hold key positions, including Head of Group Human Resources from 2010 to 2022. During this time, she played an instrumental role in shaping the bank’s human capital strategy and fostering a culture of excellence.

 

Ms. Agbede’s distinguished career is underpinned by a strong academic foundation, having obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos in 1990, followed by a Master of Business Administration Degree from Cranfield University, UK, in 2002.
