37 ADC State Chairmen Declare Full Support for David Mark-led Interim Leadership After Abuja Meeting

37 State Chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including that of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have declared their full support for the party’s interim leadership, led by former Senate President, Senator David Mark.

The declaration came on the heels of a high-level meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday between the party’s interim National Working Committee (NWC) and the state chairmen.

The gathering was convened to strengthen unity within the party and consolidate efforts around its ongoing reorganisation and coalition-building agenda.

Addressing the media after the closed-door session, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, debunked claims of a takeover by the interim leadership, stressing that the meeting was convened to reassure state leaders of their importance to the party’s future.

“We invited all the state chairmen to reassure them that we have no intention to shove them aside,” Abdullahi said. “The purpose is to dispel all the falsehood and rumours making the rounds that we came to hijack the party from them.”

He reiterated the interim leadership’s commitment to inclusiveness, describing the state chairmen as “critical partners in building a stronger political party.”

According to Abdullahi, the meeting has restored confidence among party leaders nationwide. “They are leaving Abuja today more assured than ever that they are critical stakeholders in the future of the ADC,” he stated.

Reacting to recent comments by the party’s former presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu—who had questioned the legitimacy of the ongoing coalition process and leadership transition—Abdullahi dismissed the claims, maintaining that the party remains on firm legal ground.

“A presidential candidate is not an officer of the party; he’s just a member,” Abdullahi clarified. “If anyone has evidence that we have violated our constitution, they are free to challenge it. But so far, no member of the ADC has disagreed with the process.”

Also speaking at the event, Hon. Kingsley Ogga, Chairman of the ADC Forum of State Chairmen and Kogi State party chairman, reaffirmed the unwavering support of all 37 state chairmen for the interim leadership under Senator Mark.

“We are fully aligned with the reorganisation agenda and coalition-building efforts being led by the interim leadership. We see this as a new beginning for the ADC,” Ogga declared.
