“2027 Is the Fight of Our Lives, We Must Stop Tinubu” – El-Rufai Declares in Sokoto
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has issued a strong call to action ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, describing the upcoming polls as “the fight of our lives.”
El-Rufai made the statement during a political gathering in Sokoto State on Saturday, where he addressed supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The former FCT Minister and one-time chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) accused the Tinubu-led federal government of steering Nigeria towards disintegration through what he described as “incompetence and clannish governance.”
El-Rufai, who has become an increasingly vocal critic of the APC since President Bola Tinubu assumed office, was in Sokoto to support ADC’s efforts to expand its political base in the North-West. The meeting was attended by party leaders, youth mobilizers, and former political allies of the APC now aligned with the opposition.
> “I didn’t get into politics to enrich myself but to serve. And when a government ceases to serve the people, it is our duty as citizens to resist it,” El-Rufai declared, receiving loud applause from the crowd.

He further warned that if the APC is allowed to remain in power beyond 2027, the country’s already fragile unity could suffer irreparable damage.
> “If we allow this APC government another term, what remains of Nigeria’s social fabric may be destroyed,” he said. “This is not just politics; this is the fight of our lives.”
El-Rufai’s fiery remarks come amid rising political realignments ahead of the next general elections. The ADC, buoyed by recent defections and growing dissatisfaction with the APC, has positioned itself as a rallying point for opposition forces seeking to unseat the ruling party in 2027.

Political analysts say El-Rufai’s latest comments are likely to further galvanize opposition momentum and draw more national attention to the ADC’s growing influence.
The Tinubu administration has not yet officially responded to the latest criticism.
