Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday led a delegation that paid a courtesy visit to the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard M. Mills Jr., in Abuja.
Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, was accompanied by former Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, among other political allies.

“This afternoon, I had the honor of leading a delegation on a courtesy visit to the United States Ambassador, Richard M. Mills Jr., in Abuja. Our discussion focused on strengthening the enduring partnership between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in the areas of advancing democracy, security, and promoting shared prosperity,” Atiku wrote.
The visit comes as political alignments and consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, where Atiku remains a key figure in Nigeria’s opposition politics.
