The Cross River State Diaspora Forum has unanimously endorsed Mr. Edem Francis Bassey, son of Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, as its preferred candidate for the House of Representatives, following a high-level meeting held on Wednesday, April 30, 2026, in London.

 

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the group stated that the decision followed extensive deliberations and was based on confidence in Bassey’s commitment to public service, alignment with the aspirations of the people, and perceived capacity to represent and advance the interests of his constituency effectively.

 

The Forum also described its endorsement as part of a broader commitment to supporting credible leadership and strengthening democratic participation among Cross River indigenes in the diaspora.
