House of Representatives member for Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency, Alex Egbona, has warned against dismissing the political threat posed by the coalition party, African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections in Cross River State.
Speaking to journalists in Calabar, Egbona, while describing the party as “nothing,” quickly cautioned that any politician who underestimates the ADC is making a mistake.

“Anybody who underrates the ADC in Cross River is not a serious politician.
“They are nothing, but we will not underrate them since the likes of former governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, are seriously involved and leading them in the state,” he said.

Egbunna, who acknowledged Imoke as his “boss and former principal,” noted the former governor’s political clout.
“In politics, you do not underrate any party. We’re going to match strength for strength, money for money, and connections for connections,” he vowed, warning: “That doesn’t mean they can defeat us in 2027.”
The lawmaker expressed confidence in the ruling party’s performance over the past two years, saying it has brightened their re-election prospects.

On the opposition PDP’s chances of bouncing back, Egbunna was blunt:
“PDP can never regroup again. They are still tearing themselves apart. Everyone can see how their symbol, the umbrella, has torn.
“Their key members have abandoned it for the APC and other fragile opposition parties.”
